Canals Deemed OK For Boat Parade

The Chain of Lakes Holiday Boat Parade will be go on as scheduled this evening after the Lake Region Lakes Management District determined that the canals connecting the lakes have deep enough water for most boats to travel through. Even the shallow areas appear to have at least 2 feet of water. Boats will assemble in the northeast corner of Lake Shipp between Roe Park and the Lake May canal. The parade escort boats will emerge from the canal at 6:30 p.m. Participating boats are asked to fall into formation from that point. The parade will leave from Lake Shipp, travel into Lake May, then into Lake Howard, then into Lake Cannon and then back to Lake Howard where the parade will end at the Lake May canal.
