'Farewell' To Falklands Ship
HMS Exeter destroyed four Argentine aircraft during the 1982 conflict. The Type-42 destroyer also took part in the first Gulf War in 1991. It was employed as an escort for US battleships and minesweepers off the Kuwait coast.
HMS Exeter (D89) Falkland veterans will attend the decommissioning ceremony at Portsmouth Naval Base, Hants, to mark the end of the vessel's 29-year career - which saw it clock up 892,881 miles. The Navy is replacing Type-42s with Type-45 Daring class destroyers.
