Historic Ship Docked In Palatka Florida

A replica of a 15th century ship sailed along the St. Johns River and docked at the Palatka City Pier. The boat is a replica of Christopher Columbus' Nina, one of the three he sailed to the New World. The 68 foot ship is smaller than what many people imagine it would be.Replica of Christopher Columbus' Ship NinaA half-dozen shipmates make up the crew along with a captain. They sail it around the country, making stops in cities. There, they give tours of the Nina and teach people the history surrounding the ship and Christopher Columbus. The ship will be open to the public through February 8.
